Devonport Aikido

Build strength, fitness and focus

our story

I began my Aikido journey more than 30 years ago and I've been lucky to have trained all over the world,

I wanted my daughter to learn how to look after herself, so we are a family focussed dojo, 12 years into our mission of building strong minds and bodies, of the young and old in our community.

Our Aikido is rooted in the Ueshiba family lineage - technically strong, and both powerful and graceful.

devonport aikido has taken hundreds of students on their martial arts journey and we look forward to you starting your journey with us.

The Way of Harmony

Step into the captivating world of Aikido, where martial arts meet moving meditation! Perfect for all ages, Aikido is more than just a form of self-defence: it’s a pathway to personal growth and inner harmony.

Imagine a practice where you can build strength, flexibility, and self-confidence, all while learning to redirect an attackers energy, maintain peace and defend yourself.

In Aikido, there are no contests. We train with partners, learning to handle conflict with grace, precision, and confidence without causing harm.
